“I know how expensive pots and pans are,” Werner said. “At our store you pay a dollar or two dollars for something that would be $5 or $20 at the outlets, like whisks and spatulas. The kitchen items that we get are really incredible.”

Truman Frederick Werner: 4/13/05 - 4/26/19

4/30/2019

Picture
One of our original Leeward team members, Truman, passed away peacefully at home Friday evening surrounded by his family.

Truman will be greatly missed. He brought fun and laughter to all who met him and was a regular greeter at both stores.

Everyone who met Truman immediately loved him. He was our original model for many donated items as well as the star of the Leeward calendar.

He was always willing to perform tricks for customers and wore any hat for a photo op. More times that not Truman would end up stealing a stuffed animal or two per shift. Thank you to all the customers and donors that would go out of their way just to visit with him, treats in hand.

Rest easy Truman. There will never be another like you. We send our deepest sympathy to the entire Werner family.

Sharing The Love

One of our volunteers found this sweet little note in a bag of donations this morning,

"hope you enjoy
what I had once
I wish I could do
more love a 3rd grader"

Thank you so much for thinking of us.
We appreciate your thoughtfulness!
