On Friday afternoons kids from the Clark School come volunteer to help with various tasks at our Distribution Center! Pictured above are a group of middle schoolers with team members Etta Hallowell and Beverly Sapienza.
Leeward Light Thrift Store celebrated its 10 year anniversary on Thursday, July 27, marking a decade of running a foundation that has donated more than $2 million to charities.
Thank you to everyone who came out to support us! A special thanks to the Salisbury Chamber of Commerce, Greater Newburyport Chamber of Commerce, State Representative James Kelcourse, and State Senator DiZoglio's Aide Lauren LeBlanc
The Leeward Foundation Scholarship is for a York High School and Triton Regional High School graduate planning to further his/her education at a 4 year college or university. The student must have been involved in community service or volunteerism. It carries a minimum requirement of 100 hours of volunteerism over 4 years of High School.
One of our original Leeward team members, Truman, passed away peacefully at home Friday evening surrounded by his family.
Truman will be greatly missed. He brought fun and laughter to all who met him and was a regular greeter at both stores.
Everyone who met Truman immediately loved him. He was our original model for many donated items as well as the star of the Leeward calendar.
He was always willing to perform tricks for customers and wore any hat for a photo op. More times that not Truman would end up stealing a stuffed animal or two per shift. Thank you to all the customers and donors that would go out of their way just to visit with him, treats in hand.
Rest easy Truman. There will never be another like you. We send our deepest sympathy to the entire Werner family.
Feeling overwhelmed by the amount of clothing, furniture and household items scattered throughout your home? Use this weekend to start cleaning!
Bring any of your unwanted items to us! By donating to Leeward you are helping turn these items into funds for local charities, such as food pantries and home heating assistance programs, in Essex and York County communities.
